Last Saturday, the Allen Eagles, ranked number 2 in the country according to Rivals High School Football Rankings, faced off against the Fort Bend Hightower at Reliant Stadium(Home to the Houston Texans). The victor of this game would claim the right to be Texas's number one high school football team since Class 5A Division 1 is the top football class and division in Texas.
Just a week ago, Allen pulled off an amazing victory, playing close to perfect, against the ranked number 1 team in the country, the Euless Trinity Trojans. The loss bumped Trinity down to the number 9 spot and jumped Allen from number 10 to number 2.
So, at the game, it seemed very likely that Hightower had an easy victory because of Allen's porous defense. In the picture, Allen's secondary tries to stop Hightower's high octane offense. Final result: Hightower touchdown.
It was very fortunate that Allen was only down 0-7 at halftime, since it could have been a lot worse. In the second half, the offense stayed strong while the defense picked up. A crucial interception near the end of the fourth quarter sealed it for Allen and put away Hightower's hope of a comeback. In the picture, Allen has just scored a touchdown.
In this picture, the 16,000 Allen fans are ecstatic after an Allen score and are watching the ensuing kickoff.
The final score: 21-14 Allen.
As a side note, the Allen Band was amazing to all who witnessed it. With over 650 members, they are the biggest band in the world, according to Wikipedia. Their show energized the crowd and really put to shame Fort Bend's band.
This is my brother and I after the game.
